Alan Wake tops Xbox Charts!

Microsoft’s highly anticipated thriller trumps FIFA and Lost Planet 2 in Xbox Top 10
While it didn’t manage to displace 2010 FIFA World Cup in the All Formats Chart, Microsoft’s Alan Wake has triumphed in the Xbox 360 Top 10.
The Remedy-developed Thriller takes the No.1 spot, pushing EA’s latest footy game down to third place.
Capcom’s Lost Planet 2 took second place in the Xbox 360 charts, missing out on the top spot by almost 12,000 sales – despite releasing four days earlier than Wake.
The only other new entry in the 360 Top 10 was EA’s Skate 3 at No.4 – it’s highest chart position this week. The game placed in fifth in the All Formats Top 20 and sixth in the PS3 charts.
In the All Formats Charts, Alan Wake had to settle for No.2, although Chart-Track reports it was only 1,000 sales behind the multiformat FIFA.

Guitar Hero 6, another DJ Hero coming this fall

Posted on | 0 comments
Activision has confirmed on an earnings call today that Guitar Hero 6 will be on store shelves sometime this fall, with a new DJ Hero game coming soon after. The music game market is a changing place, admitted CEO Bobby Kotick -- it will "continue to compress," with fewer titles and brands finding success. Activision has "moved from the sell-through of higher-priced peripherals," and its new plan is for "improved economics on a higher percentage of software sales."

Kotick said that Guitar Hero "remains the leader in the category with more than 44 million games sold to date," and that both releases this year would be followed with "a full lineup of exciting downloadable content."

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
is a great aventure game for ps3 and xbox 360.Ubisoft have yet another video of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands released to see again in the new gameplay material. This time the focus is on the environments in the game, one of which showed significantly longer than in the previous video …
… And Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands makes visual and playful really a very good impression. I’m looking forward to how stupid the release of the game, I will finally bounce back themselves through the area:
Female fans that the Prince described as including “real hot” could, at this point that the consent of his opponents get in the game – because … it burns formally.
Play Video
No, the question is not of an assassin who attacked the prince with a burning arrow, but of “Trail Of Flame,” one of the new elemental forces of the protagonist.
The other skills, “Ice Blast,” “Stone Armour” and “Whirlwind can” admire her in the trailer.
Besides well-known and popular game elements includes at fans of the original series Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands also completely new gameplay innovations – just as there are players from the Prince of Persia brand are used to.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has been confirmed

Posted on Thursday, 6 May 2010 | 0 comments
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has been confirmed as the title for the next Assassin’s Creed outing after box art for the game popped up online. Ubisoft has admitted the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood artwork is real which means we now know what the first multiplayer Assassin’s Creed holds in store…
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood will star Ezio, the protagonist from Assassin’s Creed 2, but it looks like there’ll be a selection of new characters too. We’re been expecting the arrival of a third Assassin’s Creed game since January when the developers revealed a spin-off was the on the way.
The Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood box art refers to the new multiplayer mode: “Lead your brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy: Rome. And for the first time take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.”
A sticker on the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood art promises an “exclusive multiplayer character” as a pre-order bonus. Speculation is already rife that it could be Altair from the original Assassin’s Creed.
Ubisoft registered an Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood web domain a few weeks back and the new game was teased with a cryptic message on the Assassin’s Creed Facebook page. Ubisoft promises more details next week.

Final Fantasy heading to Wii Virtual Console

Final Fantasy is headed to the Wii! The classic 1987 NES RPG which started the blockbuster game series is set to land on Virtual Console this week. Could this be the beginning of a bigger classic Square RPG comeback on the Wii?

Nintendo and Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy will be landing on the Virtual Console, the retro game download service for the Wii, this week. The turn based role playing game is one of the most critically acclaimed Nintendo Entertainment System games ever, and sees you take on the role of the four Light Warriors, exploring a world map which was vast for the time in taking on the demon Garland.

While Final Fantasy I has been re-released before on the PlayStation, PSP, Game Boy Advance and most recently for iPhone, the return to Nintendo’s current home console is more than welcome, and we’re hopeful it could be the start of something bigger. Square Enix has been re-releasing PlayStation Final Fantasy titles on the PlayStation Network for PS3 and PSP, but the first six titles in the series were NES and SNES games. We’d love to see them all arrive on the Wii Virtual Console, especially the gripping Final Fantasy 6.
Final Fantasy lands on the Wii Virtual Console tomorrow, priced at 600 Wii Points.

Crysis 2 = Halo Killer?

Posted on | 0 comments
EA becomes the latest publisher to utter the infamous words.
Akin to staring into the mirror and saying ‘Candyman’ three times, daring to label your product a ‘Halo killer’ has become a move only the brave or the stupid would dare to take – but that’s exactly how EA has chosen to describe upcoming shooter Crysis 2.
The term ‘Halo killer’ has become infamous having been used twice in the past. Firstly, Sony used it to describe Guerrilla’s PS2 shooter Killzone, which despite going on to become a triple-A franchise never reached the quality levels predicted in its debut outing.
In more recent years Free Radical’s PS3-only Haze was once described as a Master Chief toppler – that it turned out to be a critical and commercial flop has resulted in the term becoming somewhat of a poison chalice.
That hasn’t deterred EA Games label president Frank Gibeau, though.
“We were trying to craft a Halo-killer,” Gibeau told Industry Gamers. “You know, a product that would squarely go after what Bungie built with our partners at Crytek. So the Crysis 2 product is spectacular, very high-end, and is going to be a multi-year franchise.”

Gears of War 3

What do you think the latest game will have for us?
Personally I got a little bored of the second Gears, especially the multiplayer, not my style of game. I prefer Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Anyway, here is the latest trailer for GOW3 - a little late online I know but for those that haven't seen it yet.

New Medal of Honor Trailer

Medal of Honor has been given a release date of 15th October, some 25days before the new Call of Duty:Black Ops game.  It will be interesting to see if this has any effect on sales as it could work two ways.  Either gamers hold off and wait for Call of Duty, or the take the plunge with MOH thus delaying their purchase of COD. We'll just have to wait and see!
